TERMS AND CONDITIONS 

Thank you for choosing to book with The Victoria Inn at Witton le Wear, we look forward to welcoming you.

When you confirm a booking, you are entering into an agreement with us (which shall include these terms and conditions). Pricing
The Victoria Inn offers a standard rate which includes bed & breakfast and prices are guaranteed once you have been given a confirmation number. All prices are inclusive of VAT. For the avoidance of doubt, the standard price does not include any incidental charges which you may incur during your stay. Such charges will be payable by you on your departure and, in the event that you fail to pay any such incidental charges, it is a condition of your booking with The Victoria Inn that you irrevocably authorise us to debit your credit or debit card for the amount of any shortfall. 

Deposit
To secure your booking; we do require a non-refundable deposit of £50 per room per night to be paid. Deposit payments can be made by credit or debit card (via our online booking system, by telephoning The Victoria Inn or indeed by visiting The Victoria Inn in person). Deposits will be taken in accordance with the terms & conditions of your booking. In the event of cancellation, payment will be taken in accordance with our cancellation terms, (see CANCELLATIONS for details).

Confirmation
Once your booking has been accepted and a deposit received, you shall receive a booking confirmation email from us. This will include details of your room type, room rate, dates of arrival / departure and a unique booking reference number. Please quote your booking reference number when contacting us at The Victoria Inn as this will identify your specific booking. Hard copy booking confirmations are available upon request 


Balance of monies outstanding
Balancing payments are made on the day of your arrival. We accept payment of your balance by cash, debit and credit cards (excluding American Express). 


Cancellation by you


If you have to cancel or amend a reservation, it is in your interest to notify us immediately by telephone or email. We are happy to reschedule bookings to another date falling within 12 months of your original booking without any loss of deposit. However, in the event of an outright cancellation, costs will be incurred as follows:

1. More than 7 days before your booking commences your deposit will be returned·        

2. Seven or less days before your booking commences you will be liable to pay the full cost of your booking.  

3. You will be liable to pay for the booking IN FULL in the event of a failure to take up the booking. We will exercise this right at our discretion.

Please note: It is advisable to take out travel insurance to cover any costs that you may incur in the event of a cancellation.

Cancellation by us
Subject to the Events outside our control paragraph below, if for any reason the room is not available; all monies paid by you for the room concerned will be refunded in full. 

Events outside our control 
The Victoria Inn shall not be responsible for any loss or damage which you may suffer arising out of events beyond its control or the control of its suppliers (including, without limitation, fire, failure of electrical or other power supplies, strikes, industrial action, terrorist activity, technical problems with transport, and bad weather), nor for any curtailment, cancellation or change to any accommodation or any other consequences which arise as a result of such events. If your room is not available or if we are otherwise not able to provide the accommodation to you because of such events, we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know and we will take steps to minimise the effect of such events.  If any loss or damage is caused by such an event outside our control, we are not responsible for any liability other than refunding you the deposit and any other monies paid by you for the room concerned. 

GENERAL TERMS

Meal Arrangements
Your rate includes a full traditional breakfast, cereals, toast, preserves with tea or coffee and fruit juices. Should you have special dietary requirements, please inform us of these at the time of your booking.

Arrival
Your room will be ready for you from 4 pm. We may not be able to accommodate you if you arrive earlier than the agreed time as we may be busy preparing your room. However, you may drop off your bags and collect your room keys at an earlier time by prior arrangement. If your arrival time is going to be after 9 pm, please can you let us know an estimated time of arrival?

Multiple Day Stays
If your stay is over a few days; we actively encourage you to use The Victoria Inn as your home. All we ask is during cleaning times you allow the staff to be able to do their jobs. If you do not want your room serviced, we ask you to let us know.

Room Check Out
We respectfully remind guests that The Victoria Inn offers bed and breakfast and we would ask you to please vacate your room by 10.30 am, unless otherwise arranged. 

Utilities
If there is a breakdown of any of the utility services at the property (i.e. heating, electrics, broadband, etc.) the owner will endeavour to get the problem fixed as soon as possible and will take any appropriate steps to provide an alternative source of heat/power if possible. No refunds will be provided for any loss of amenity in this respect.

Pets

We welcome one pet dog to stay at The Victoria Inn in room  5 (double room) only. A rate of £10 per night will be added.  This charge will be for the extra cleaning of the room. Please do not hesitate to ask should you require any more information on this policy.

Acceptance of Children
We welcome children of all ages. We can provide by prior arrangement and free of charge, a highchair and a travel cot subject to the room booked. Young people aged 16 or over will be treated as an adult and require their own bed.

Smoking & Vaping
Smoking or Vaping within The Victoria Inn and exterior public areas (including the decking areas), are strictly forbidden. If this very strict rule is ignored within The Victoria Inn building itself, there is a £100 deep cleansing charge. We do provide a smoking area for guests wishing to smoke and this can be found at the rear of the property in the smoking shelter provided - please do use the ashtrays and bins provided.

Naked Flames
No use of any lights or illuminations that have naked flames should be used at the property (including the Gardens and Grounds).

Vehicles & Personal Property
Vehicles, accessories and contents are left at their owner’s risk. As well as cancellation and curtailment insurance, guests are recommended to take out holiday insurance to cover loss or damage to personal effects.

Special Requests
Whilst every effort is made to fulfil any particular requests that you may make in relation to your stay with us, please note that these requests do not form part of our contract and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to meet any particular requests.

Promotional Offers
All promotional offers are subject to availability and no cash alternatives are available.

Repairs to Rooms
Occasionally due to damage or wear and tear an item of equipment may not be working. We will do our utmost to repair it as quickly as possible. 

Damages and Breakages
Please take care when staying in our property. You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages, which you cause to the accommodation, or its contents and we ask that you report any incidents when they occur. We do not normally charge for minor breakages, but we may send you an invoice for repair or making good if the damage or breakage is significant. As well as cancellation and curtailment insurance, guests are recommended to take out holiday insurance to cover loss or damage to third party property.

Removal of Persons
We reserve the right to remove a person or persons from The Victoria Inn due to unreasonable behaviour, damage to the property or exceeding the stated occupancy and any refund is at the discretion of the Management.

Liability
We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment. Nothing in these terms shall exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees, agents or subcontractors or any other loss that it would be unlawful to exclude. 

Foreseeable loss and/or damage 
We are responsible to you for foreseeable loss and damage caused by us. If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms and conditions or our failing to use reasonable care and skill, but we are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if either it is obvious that it will happen or if, at the time the agreement was made, both you and we knew it might happen, for example if you discussed it with us during the booking process. 

Complaints
Complaints that are not reported immediately, during the stay, will not be entertained after guests have left the premises. We must be given the opportunity to rectify any problem identified by customers during their stay.  No correspondence will be entered into in respect of complaints made on the day of departure or after the customer’s return home, when no opportunity has been provided for the owner to rectify the problem.

Privacy Policy
The Victoria Inn operates a privacy policy and you are requested to read this policy as a term of your booking with us. By agreeing to our terms and conditions, you are also agreeing to our privacy policy. A copy of our Privacy Policy is available on request. 

Severance 
Each of the paragraphs of these terms and conditions operates separately. If any court or relevant authority decides that any of them are unlawful, the remaining paragraphs will remain in full force and effect. 

Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England. The courts of England shall have non – exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with these terms and conditions.
